Annual Father's Day BBQ & Kickball.

We rounded out the weekend at Canaanite No.3's Annual Father's Day BBQ & Family Kickball Game in Ozone Park, where we dropped off Father's Day gifts for the dads in the community.

Thank you, Canaanite No.3, for having us.

Pouring Into the Mothers.

Rewinding to May 30. Before June kicked into full swing, we spent a Saturday setting up for the mothers, the women, the families, and the neighbors who hold our blocks together.

A whole day designed to pour into the women who pour into everyone else, featuring the Beyond Your Scars mobile health unit and a packed lineup of free resources.

Youthpreneur Ripple Effect

Police Commissioner for a Day.

Remember Justin Mitchell, founder of Beat Fight Lab? One of our 2026 Youthpreneur winners just took his pitch from our stage all the way to City Hall.

Justin was named NYC Police Commissioner for a Day. From the stage, he gave Showing Hearts a shout-out for helping build the confidence behind the idea he pitched to the city.

Queens North High School ran the full feature, which also gave love to our corporate partner Resorts World.

First a check. Then a commissioner badge. This is exactly what Youthpreneur is for.

Beautification Project '26 recap

Remember the Beautification Project we teased in our last newsletter? It happened. Peters Field is a whole new place because of it.

On Friday, June 5, neighbors and volunteers showed up with paintbrushes, gloves, and good attitudes. Together we painted benches, planted flowers, and tree-scaped Peters Field alongside our partners in office.

♥ A Night to Remember · June 12

SHF takes the King Center.

SHF leadership at the World Cup 2026 NYC Launch featuring Nas at the King Center

One phone call we didn't expect. One night we won't forget.

Our corporate partner Resorts World reached out with tickets to the World Cup 2026 NYC Launch Event, featuring a headlining performance from Nas at the King Center on June 12.

Representing SHF that night: our Executive Director Denise, Finance Director Joarlee, and Director of Programming Leonora, soaking up Queens history in real time. Thank you, Resorts World, for thinking of us.
